BBL Play-Offs Semi-Finals, Second Leg
Glasgow Rocks 77-91 London Lions (16-26, 31-44, 49-63)
(155-169 on aggregate)
London Lions advanced to the Play-Off Final after overcoming Glasgow Rocks on the road to reach The O2.
The tie was level before the start, following Thursday’s First Leg 78-78 tie, but the Lions produced a strong display to power through.
London came out firing to establish an early double-digit advantage led by a sizzling hot Paul Guede and Jon Thompson and this time there would be no comeback from the Rocks. The Lions continued to build their lead as late in the second quarter, Andre Lockhart nailed a pair of three’s and they went into the locker room up 31-44 at the half.
Rocks responded with a Gareth Murray three pointer to start the second half but Justin Robinson responded in kind. The Lions were suffocating on defence and moved the ball well on offence. Flo Larkai dominated the fourth quarter as he rolled back the years with an array of post moves that left their hosts chasing shadows, the Lions advantage hitting 23 points late on as they were able to celebrate the victory and a place in the showpiece final next Sunday.
The Lions found their flow on offence, shooting 57% from the floor and only missed one free throw in 15 attempts whilst restricting Rocks to 41%.
Jon Thompson top scored with 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting, whilst Larkai was a perfect 6 from 6 but it was a complete team display from the Lions as six players hit double figures in total.
The Playoff Final will be at the O2 on Sunday tipping at 4pm and tickets available HERE
