London Lions have confirmed that young Londoner, Jonathan James, will return to the top London basketball club.
James, one of the youngest players in the team, stands out for his pace and ability to stand up to the opposition. Known for his offensive style, James has started the season on a high as today, at the Essex Classic, he was the top scorer smashing 16 points and 5 assists on the floor.
A graduate from the Lions Academy at Hackney Community College, James spent a season in Prep school in the USA before joining the Lions last September. He is now studying at the University of East London (UEL) and is part of their basketball programme jointly run by London Lions and the UEL.
Lions’ boss, Vince Macaulay said, “Jonathan is one of our up and coming stars. He has championship pedigree with huge potential. It’s fantastic that he is not only rejoining the team but also continuing his education at the UEL. He is a great role model for young players currently playing at junior level”.
James commented, “I am happy to have signed for my second season with the Lions. I have big plans and achievements to meet for the team and I think we have a strong alliance this year. We are ready to go all the way!”.
James’ signing means the Lions return nine players from last season alongside new guys Jordan Spencer, Ladarius Tabb and Kervin Bristol. The BBL season tips off at the Copper Box, on the 21st of September when the Glasgow Rocks are the visitors.
Regular season game tickets are now available online on the Lions website
