London Lions 77-57 Bristol Flyers (11-8, 30-22, 56-33)

London Lions picked up another win in pursuit of the BBL Championship title after overcoming Bristol Flyers, at UEL Sports Dock.
The Lions avenged last week’s loss to the Flyers to move to 23-5, 6 points clear at the top, while Andreas Kapoulas’ side fall to 12-16 ahead of a huge game against Manchester Giants on Saturday.
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair as both sides struggled in their new surroundings, the home side edged the first quarter 11-8, tieing the lowest scoring quarter of the season.
Flo Larkai and Brandon Peel showed well inside at the start of the second before Daniel Edozie put the Flyers up 17-20 after nearly 17 minutes of action, then the Lions went on an 11-0 run to take control, initiated by Captain Joe Ikhinmwin’s three pointer and concluded on Ladarius Tabb’s dunk. By the half time break, the scores stood at 30-22.
The Lions pulled further clear in the third on the back of quickfire points from Paul Guede and Jerelle Okoro as the gap increased to 25 points and they completed a comfortable win in the end.
Key stat – Both teams struggled to find their rhythm early on, but the Flyers never got going and finished 20 of 70 from the floor at 28% as the Lions amassed 50 points in the paint.
Game hero(es) – Robinson led the way for the Lions with a game-high 19 points, while Tabb posted another double-double with 12 points and 11 boards and Spencer also hit double figures with 13 points to go with six assists.
The Lions are on the road to the Surrey Scorchers on Sunday, before returning to UEL Sportsdock next Wednesday when they entertain the Plymouth Raiders, tickets are available HERE.
