Justin Robinson returned to GB action this weekend in Glasgow as the National Team continues their quest to get out of the Group stages of World Cup qualification.
Unfortunately it was a bitter sweet brace of games as the team won the game against Estonia by 9 points but fell short on Monday evening to Israel.
A smooth return for Robinson in game one saw him spray passes to team mates and then hit some trade maker three pointers as the team took the game led in scoring by Dan Clark who notched up 20 points in a 74-65 win. Monday however the task was clear, win to progress or lose and concentrate on Euro qualification instead of Worlds.
Israel were wily and smart, getting to the basket early doubling the points in the paint tally as well as capitalising on GB turnovers. A rally late in the fourth as Robinson hit of a Will Saunders slide rule pass saw the deficit at just 2 points. However from then on it was rushed shots and bad decisions as the visitors won out 59-67.
The players tried hard but you could see that off court distractions around the Governing bodies weighed heavy on the minds as players looked sluggish and team cohesion that looked solid in the latter stages of Friday, were absent.
