Vince Macaulay has provided the following statement…
Dear all, firstly, our thoughts are with all our employees, supporters, partners, sponsors and suppliers at this difficult and unprecedented moment in our lives. We urge everybody to stay at home and follow the strict advice from the Government so that together we can emerge from these troubled times and, ultimately, save lives.
As will be the case for many businesses across the country, this pandemic has had a massive effect on income from an events and hospitality perspective and, of course, the basketball. We ask ticket purchasers to bear with us at this time as we liaise with all our ticket outlets.
Since the onset of this tragic situation our focus has been absolutely on protecting our fantastic staff and ensuring that, once this is all over, they have a job and a workplace to come back to.
The recent intervention from the Government and their Job Retention Scheme is greatly welcomed. While we await full details, we are confident that this scheme will prove vital in the support of businesses across the nation as well as our basketball club.
As with a lot of basketball clubs a lot of our playing contracts are seasonal and end at the last game of the season. We are very much a local-player focussed club and we will be trying to assist all our staff through this difficult time.
We are hopeful that the Government’s scheme will enable us to maintain full employment across the club and ensure we can all get back to delivering our purpose within the London community as our roles extend from the shop window of weekly games through our development pathway and schools and community activity.
Please stay safe and I wish you and all your family fortitude at this time.
