In our journey to grow the sport of Basketball, we teamed up with The Black Prince Trust as their basketball development partners to continue raising the profile of the sport. The Black Prince Trust offers a range of community and club focused basketball sessions with the aim of inspiring local participation.
As London’s only professional team we believe it is our role to prepare the next generation of basketball players. This is why we have set up our summer camps. This is an opportunity for youngsters aged 8-16 to train and play with on the same court as their favourite lion’s superstars.
During the camp, players are offered the chance to improve every part of their game with skill-based stations in the morning and small sided competitions in the afternoon.
A key area of our off-court responsibility is making sure to look after our community. The Lion’s men’s team took a trip to the London Nautical School to offer a day full of basketball. Members of our first team were able to take the kids through a number of drills before letting them showcase their skills in some games.
The London Lions have partnered with Serpentine Galleries and Tower Hamlets Council to create a unique basketball court. The court will be a vibrant community hub aiming to get people active and playing basketball. For the first 6-weeks, the Lions will be providing coaching sessions, creative tournaments and open play. After this period, the court will be gifted to the community.
