Sunday 18th January, Sheffield - London Lions continued their strong domestic form with a 92–83 road win over Sheffield Sharks on Sunday afternoon, moving to 13-2 in the SLB and staying top of the table.
Deane Williams led the Lions with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding six rebounds, while Tarik Phillip was influential down the stretch with 17 points, including key free throws and drives that repeatedly halted Sheffield momentum. Chaundee Brown Jr. added 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench, providing energy on both ends, and Amin Adamu chipped in 10 points with timely finishes in transition.
In a game that swung sharply after the break, Sheffield controlled much of the first half, taking a 47–40 lead into the interval. The Sharks led by double digits in the second quarter, with William Lee and Mervin James anchoring their offence as London struggled to find rhythm early.
The game turned decisively in the third quarter. London came out with far greater pace and physicality, opening the half on a 13–3 scoring run that flipped the contest.
From there, the Lions dictated terms. They outscored Sheffield 30-14 in the third quarter, moving into a 70–61 lead heading into the final period, and never relinquished control despite several Sharks pushes.
Sheffield were led by Mervin James’ 23 points and six rebounds, with Prentiss Nixon adding 20 points off the bench, but the Sharks were unable to stem London’s third-quarter surge or close the gap consistently in the fourth.
Attention now turns back to Europe for the Lions, who return to EuroCup action on Wednesday evening, hosting Ratiopharm Ulm at the Copper Box with tip-off set for 7:30pm.
