Cheshire, Sunday 16 November - The London Lions stayed perfect in Super League Basketball play on Sunday afternoon, delivering a composed second-half comeback to beat the Cheshire Phoenix 89–74 and become the first team to win at Cheshire Oaks Arena this season, improving to 8–0.
London opened the second half with their most disruptive defensive stretch of the game, forcing multiple turnovers and immediately turning them into transition points. Their pressure and activity on the glass swung the momentum completely, with the Lions ripping off a decisive run that turned the deficit into a double-digit lead in just minutes.
Joel Scott led the charge inside with 13 points and eight rebounds as London repeatedly punished Cheshire with second-chance opportunities. Amin Adamu, Kameron McGusty, and Tarik Phillip added key steals during the surge, while Ethan Price provided timely scoring and rim protection to keep the run building.
London outscored the Phoenix 27–13 in the quarter and never trailed again.
From there, the Lions closed the game behind balanced scoring and depth. Chasson Randle, Ciaran Sandy, and Aaryn Rai each scored 12 points, with Rai delivering a perfect shooting performance. Price added nine points with six rebounds and two blocks, and London’s bench combined for 54 points in a complete team effort.
Defensively, the Lions dominated the final 20 minutes, finishing with 20 offensive rebounds, 11 steals, eight blocks, and forcing Cheshire into 19 turnovers - turning a difficult start into one of their strongest road wins of the season.
The Lions now have a busy week ahead with three games, two in SLB play and a major EuroCup test. They look to bring momentum from their last two wins into their return to the Copper Box Arena this Wednesday at 7:30 PM for a EuroCup matchup against Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse.
