Bristol, Friday 21 November — The London Lions 8–0 unbeaten run in Super League Basketball came to an end on Friday night, falling 54–68 to the Bristol Flyers at SGS College Arena. London struggled to find rhythm offensively throughout the evening, shooting 3-of-29 from three and 33% from the field, numbers that ultimately outweighed a resilient defensive performance.
Aaryn Rai led London with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Deane Williams added nine points and five rebounds. Ryan Mikesell chipped in eight points, and Ethan Price contributed seven points, but the Lions were unable to turn their defensive stops into sustained scoring runs.
London opened slowly but battled back with strong defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and controlling the glass late in the first half. A deep three from Randle in the closing seconds pushed the Lions into halftime with a narrow lead, their best offensive moment of the night.
However, the third quarter shifted the game. Bristol found consistent scoring from Zachary Anderson, who finished with 22 points and five rebounds, while Joseph Anderson added 12 points and seven assists as the Flyers outscored London 20–9 in the period. Capitalizing on continued missed threes and limited interior efficiency, Bristol built a cushion the Lions were unable to erase.
Although the Lions defended with intensity for long stretches, Bristol’s disciplined shot-making and ability to generate interior looks proved decisive. The Flyers edged the rebounding battle 40–39 and controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter, steadily extending their advantage as London’s scoring droughts continued.
The Lions will now look to regroup quickly as they return home to the Copper Box Arena this Sunday at 4:00 PM, hosting the Newcastle Eagles.
