In 2023, the Lions were boosted by the signing of American Juicy Landrum, who arrived in London with serious pedigree. The guard spent four years playing NCAA Division 1 basketball for Baylor University – aiding the Lady Bears towards their third-ever NCAA Championship in 2019. The Texan is known for her sweet stroke from behind the arc. In 2019, Landrum put up an astonishing 14 three-pointers in a 111-43 against Arkansas State. Three years later, Juicy was selected by Connecticut Sun with the 35th pick of the 2022 WNBA Draft. The American later moved overseas where she signed for Melikgazi Kayseri. Landrum enjoyed a successful spell in Turkey, averaging just shy of 16-points on an electic 44.2% three-point shooting.

The Lions announced the signing of Ivana Katanić in the summer of 2023. The Serbian has represented her country across a variety of age levels – from the U16’s through to the 2023 EuroBasket. The 5’9 guard has played in Belgium and Hungary with the UK being her latest career chapter. Katanić will bring European experience to a roster that is hungry to compete on the game’s biggest stages.

Gustafson joined the Lions as a proven scorer in both the States and Europe. The Wisconsin-born centre spent four years at Iowa, averaging 27.8 points and 13.4 rebounds in her final season. Her time in college was saturated with accolades as she tied the single season NCAA record for 33 double-doubles (33) whilst breaking the record for field goals made (412). The 6’4 talent was named as the Big Ten Conference Women’s Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 whilst also being gifted a range of other awards. The Hawkeyes product also picked up the Naismith Trophy in 2019 and saw her no.10 jersey retired – becoming just the second-ever woman to achieve this In 2019, Gustafson was selected by the Dallas Wings with the 17th pick in the WNBA Draft. She went on to play for the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury before having a dominant stint in Europe. Before joining the Lions, Megan averaged 22.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in the EuroLeague for Greek club, Olympiacos.

Just months before signing with the Lions, Meyers was drafted by the Dallas Wings with the 11th pick in the 2023 WNBA draft. As Abby entered the league with five years of college experience under her belt, the 2022 Ivy League Player of the Year looked set to be a great edition to the league. Meyers was waived by Dallas and shortly after signed for the Washington Mystics where the 6’0 guard played nine games. On August 1st, the American international officially made her move to the English capital in the hunt for more success – this time with the Lions.

The former junior GB international joined the Lions ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, providing extra talent towards the centre position. Maya had previously spent a season in the WBBL playing for the Newcastle Eagles, before making a switch across the pond where she represented NCAA Division 2 side, Eckerd College. For two straight seasons, Price was named in the All-Sunshine State Conference First Team whilst also being recognised as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year in 2022. She finished that same campaign with an impressive average of 14.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.

The American-Brit relocated to London in 2023 following an impressive career in the WNBA and Europe. The free-scoring guard left Stanford University by scoring the school’s third highest amount of three-pointers (249). Her first professional season was then partially spent in Italy’s Serie A, before returning to her native California to study and become an assistant coach for the Vanguard Lions. Samuelson made her WNBA debut in 2018 against the Minnesota Lynx. Karlie then signed for BC Castors Braine in the 2018-19 off-season – becoming a Belgian National League champion whilst also picking up valuable EuroLeague experience. The guard relocated back and forth between Europe and America, picking up two Spanish league titles and two cup trophies in the process. Following her most recent campaign with the Los Angeles Sparks, she joins a very talented Lions roster that is itching to achieve and push boundaries.
