London Lions & TOMME Studios Launch Limited-Edition Collaboration Bag

The world of basketball culture manifests in different forms, including but certainly not limited to music, arts, fashion, film and technology. Many fashion designers influenced by the culture have drawn from this world and created pieces that have become well-respected staples.

One such person is Kelly Gunner, the founder of the London-based and internationally acclaimed fashion brand TOMME Studio who recently teamed up with the London Lions, to create a one-off limited edition basketball bag for the recent ‘The World We Create’ campaign.

A trailblazer in imagining and reworking basketballs, TOMME mastermind Kelly Gunner has been transforming items deep-rooted in the sport into individual, unisex pieces. Inspired by the intersection between women and men within the sport and contemporary streetwear aesthetic, TOMME flips popular designs by the world's biggest brands into one-off collectable and covetable items, as well as curating their own original designs.

To celebrate the launch of this special collaboration, the bag made its debut during Stefflon Don’s halftime show at this weekend's London Lions game.

‘The World We Create’ campaign takes high fashion styling to the streets, seeing Lions players styled with the Tomme bag in everyday scenes across London. The collaboration brings the court to the street whilst simultaneously championing the notion of women becoming big players across sports & streetwear.

’London and Basketball have had major creative influences on me throughout my life. They are intense and alive. I want to make people feel strong and confident when they wear a TOMME piece, so when creating these bags I drew from the grittiness and determination that I get from the LIONS and LONDON itself.’’

This innovative TOMME and the London Lions’ collab will add a little more fuel to the fire, bringing some of that on-court energy and determination back to the streets, reimagining a traditionally feminine accessory and putting it at the centre of basketball culture.

Kelly, a former youth-level hooper, began working with the London Lions earlier this year to develop ideas for encouraging young female hoopers to see beyond the lines of the hard court. In celebration of Women's History Month, the London Lions and TOMME Studios joined forces to create an innovative workshop where young girls, from the Kingston Lions basketball team, who love and play basketball could express their creative flair on a canvas they know all too well.
