London Lions vs Besiktas

EuroCup Final Second Leg

Date: Wednesday 10th April

Tip-off: 19:00

Doors Open: 18:00

On April 3rd, our women’s team will face Besiktas in the first leg of this year's Women’s EuroCup final. The team has continued to set records all season and is the first-ever basketball side hailing from the UK to make a European competition showpiece. The final is a two-legged aggregate game, so a win or loss in the first game is not life or death for either side - the winner will be crowned in East London, at the Copper Box when the tie comes to London for the second leg on April 10th.

Besiktas secured their place in the final with a 68-66 win over Spar Girona. A strong performance in the first leg gave them a 21-point lead, and the final result never really looked in doubt after continuing where they left off. The Lions, on the other hand, battled through Umana Reyer Venice in the semis and are now unbeaten in 14 games, a winning streak only bettered in the competition's history by Dynamo Moscow in 2006-07, a team that went the whole tournament without losing a game (16-0). Can that be matched? We’ll have to wait and see.

The London Lions have their eyes on the prize and for a talented roster, they’ll want to go out with a bang. Two sides from Turkiye stand defeated already on the Lions' journey to the final and have the hat trick in their sights.

Besiktas are formidable opponents with support that typically travels very well. If we look back to the men’s EuroCup group game, we saw a sold-out Copper Box arena with a couple of thousand Besiktas fans in the building that night - expect a similarly good turnout in this fixture.

Rarely do we witness a British team reach a major European sporting final, and rarely does it happen on UK soil. Experience elite-level basketball, right here in East London. You won't want to miss it! Book your tickets today.
