Stella Kaltsidou’s London Lions continuetheir hot streak as they brush aside the Palatinates in Durham.

Megan Gustafson and Holly Winterburn hadtheir foot on the gas as they ran over the Durham defence in another emphaticdomestic victory.

On a cold night in Durham, the Lions’ longtrip to the North was rewarded as they built on their historic win againstNewcastle with another thumping victory against opposition from North East, thistime beating the Palatinates by 42 points.

Durham started the game quickly and caughtthe Lions napping as they went toe-to-toe with the reigning Women’s British BasketballLeague champions. The hosts continued to apply the pressure and perhaps toLondon’s surprise, took a two-point lead nearing the end of the first quarter.

Heading into the second period of the game,the Lions managed to build a six-point lead.

That margin grew dramatically in the secondquarter as the visitors began to pull away.

The European prowess of the Lions, who wereled by star player Megan Gustafson, showcased exactly what they could do asLondon took control of the game.

Gustafson led the game in scoring with 22points in 18 minutes, whilst also picking up an impressive 10 rebounds.

Durham’s fast start wasn’t enough forLondon’s dynamic offensive transitional play as Holly Winterburn converted 85%of two-point attempts. The GB international also collaborated well with AmericanMegan Gustafson to lead the game in assists.

The third quarter saw a more measuredapproach from the league leaders, who continued to score whilst limiting theiropponents to just 13 points on the quarter.

The Lions are never too generous in victoryas it rained buckets in Durham in the fourth quarter. Abby Meyers joined in onthe scoring act, thumping home 11 points in the remaining 10 minutes of thegame.

The away side left the North East withanother exciting performance under their belts, powering past the DurhamPalatinates by 69-111.

The London Lions remain undefeated in theWBBL Championship this season and will look to take that momentum into theirsecond leg tie of their EuroCup play-off tie against Bursa Uludag.
