The pinnacle of the Lions youth system. Our NextGen team competes in the adidas NextGen EuroLeague (ANGT), Europe's premier under-18 club competition, as only the third British team ever to take part.
The ANGT is the premier youth basketball competition in Europe, where the continent's top academy programmes, from Real Madrid to Žalgiris Kaunas, test their best prospects against each other on a global stage. The Lions will compete in it annually for as long as we play in the EuroCup or EuroLeague.
Only two British clubs had ever reached the ANGT before the Lions. Our participation puts London's best young players on Europe's biggest development stage.
Tournament fields include European powerhouses like Real Madrid, Valencia Basket and Žalgiris Kaunas, the same academies producing EuroLeague and NBA players.
International travel, professional preparation and high-level competition, invaluable experience for players stepping towards the senior game.
The Lions made their ANGT debut in February 2026 at the Abu Dhabi Qualifying Tournament, drawn in Group B alongside Aris Thessaloniki, AS Monaco, Dubai Basketball and NextGen Team Abu Dhabi, in a wider field that included Real Madrid, Valencia Basket and Žalgiris Kaunas. Our first appearance was cut short when the tournament was suspended following the outbreak of conflict in the region; the team will return to the ANGT stage next season.
The NextGen roster is drawn from the best young talent across the UK and Europe, alongside players from our own academy at New City College.
