Nick Lewis and Matt Morgan went toe-to-toe in Manchester as London took a close-fought victory back to the capital.

As a result, Lions make their record 14-1 in the British Basketball League whilst the Giants move to 3-10.

With the London Lions falling short to Plymouth a couple of weeks ago, the Manchester Giants were looking to replicate the upset as they welcomed the reigning champions to the National Basketball Centre.

The visitors entered the game without Sam Dekker, Mo Soluade and Tarik Phillip. However, Petar Božić did have more players to select from as previous absentees were back in contention. One of those was Josh Sharma, who opened the scoring in the North West – kick starting a 10-0 London run.

The Giants trailed by 11 points in the first quarter, but eventually found their groove to ignite an 11-0 run of their own which put them into the lead heading into the second quarter.

The Lions had 17 turnovers in the game, which is something they will be disappointed about given it allowed their opponents back into the match on multiple occasions. However, London’s scoring remained efficient – giving them a narrow lead heading into half-time.

The visitors continued to fire in the third quarter as London’s two Morgan remained hot from the three-point line to keep their team ahead. The Giants, however, refused to lie down as they trailed by eight points with the final 10 minutes awaiting.

Nick Lewis and Jamell Anderson combined for 64 points in the game, scoring eight three-pointers between them. It was a closely contested battle between the two teams, just as it was at the Copper Box back in early October.

However, six weeks later – the result remained the same as the London Lions picked up a crucial victory in Manchester.
