The high-flying Lions continue to dominate as they power past the Wolves in the Women’s British Basketball League.

GB international Savannah Wilkinson put up an impressive 20 points, 12 rebounds and three steals as the forward controlled both ends of the floor.

Having excelled so far on a domestic and European scale, the London Lions made the short trip to St Albans to take on the Oakland Wolves, who had won two of their opening four games heading into the match.

The visitors began as the stronger team in the first quarter, forming a solid nine-point lead over their opponents.

The Lions were boosted by the returning American duo of Abby Meyers and Megan Gustafson. The pair played less than 10 minutes each, yet in that space of time still combined for 15 points.

The difference in the game was evident through the shooting percentages. The hosts made 21 of their 68 shots (30.9%), whilst London made over 54% of their attempts. As a result, the visitors pulled further away in the second quarter with the scoreline 34-46 heading into the break.

The victory was sealed for the reigning champions in the third quarter as an additional 14 points were added to the deficit. Further damage was done in the fourth quarter as the Lions pulled even further away by going on a 16-21 run.

The London Lions were excellent in every department - from scoring and playmaking through to rebounding and putting together defensive stops. As a result, they have won another game and will look to keep it rolling through the Christmas period.
