Lions coach Mark Clark was pleased to have a tough game as his side completed a perfect WBBL regular season with a 90-76 victory at Sevenoaks Suns, on Sunday.

Clark’s team trailed 43-36 going into the locker room at half-time but outscored the league runners-up by double-digits in each of the final two periods to wrap up a 24-0 league campaign:

“Suns played well in the first half, but we were sloppy” said Clark. “But it’s nice to need to coach a tight game again, and it’s come at the right time as it reminds us that we mustn’t be complacent."
“I think Suns hit more threes in the first half than they have in the previous two games against us, but Jo [Leedham] was exceptional again. She makes everyone accountable and had a great night with 16 points, ten assists seven rebounds and three steals. When you add the energy of Shanice [Beckford-Norton]  off the bench you can see why we scored 56 points in the second half.
“Holly [Winterburn] had a steady game, and Azania [Stewart] worked well inside. Once Shequila [Joseph] came back into the game we tightened up inside.
“I think it was difficult for both us and Sunday because the amount of games we played over the last nine days was ridiculous, but we’ll have a couple of days off and then get ready for Durham in the play-offs, on Saturday.”

Lions’ play-off quarter-final against Durham will be staged at UEL on Saturday, tip-off 3.30pm.
