London, Monday 10 August 2026 – The London Lions Women have announced the return of Deborah Somoye, who will enter her second season with the club ahead of the 2026-27 Super League Basketball Women (SLBW) campaign.
The 5’9” guard brings versatility, intelligence and a team-first mindset to the Lions roster, with her ability to contribute across multiple areas of the game making her a valuable piece of the team.
Entering her second season in a Lions uniform, Somoye will look to continue her development and take another step forward as she grows into her role within the squad.
Born and raised in London, returning to represent her hometown club makes the upcoming season particularly special for Somoye as she prepares to build on her first year with the Lions and continue developing alongside the team.
London Lions General Manager Ruchae Walton highlighted Somoye’s importance to the roster and the value of her connection to the London basketball community.
“Debs is such an important part of our roster, and we’re really excited to have her returning for her second year with the Lions. She brings something really unique through her connection to the London basketball scene, her knowledge of the game, and her understanding of what we’re building here at the Lions. As she enters her second season with the Lions, Somoye will look to build on her first year with the club and continue growing into her role as she represents her hometown on the court.
