Kosta Koufos Update

With the conclusion of the EuroCup campaign, the London Lions would like to thank Kosta Koufos for his contribution to the team this season. Averaging a near double-double, Koufos finished his Lions' campaign with a record of 20-10 across all competitions, including a 2023 BBL Cup title.

The 7'0" center signed with the London Lions last summer following stints with European basketball juggernauts Olympiacos and CSKA Moscow on top of a storied 11-year NBA career.

His signing was celebrated around around European basketball and did not disappoint. The big man, who quickly became a fan favourite, led the British Basketball League (during the regular season) in rebounds (9.1 RPG) whilst averaging 12.1 points and 1.1 blocks (6th best in the league).

During the regular season, Koufos recorded four double-doubles. In his last BBL Championship game against the Bristol Flyers, he contributed 18 points, 12 rebounds, one block and one assist to the Lions' efforts. In the 7Days EuroCup, Kosta Koufos averaged 11.8 points per game, 8.1 rebounds (5th best in the EuroCup), 1.1 blocks (9th best) and 1.5 steals.

In the 2023 BBL Cup final, Koufos put on a stellar performance in Birmingham, pocketing 14 points and 12 rebounds to help defeat the Leicester Riders.

We would like to thank Kosta for his contributions to the Club, both on and off the court. Aside from being a dominant interior presence, Kosta was a mentor and locker room connector.

He came in and represented the club and the BBL and the city of London to the highest standard. He left a huge impression on the basketball footprint here, and we thank him for his impact.. We wish him and his family all the best.
