London, Saturday 10 October 2026 — London Lions Women fell 58-76 to Caledonia Gladiators at NCC Hackney on Saturday, with an early deficit proving difficult to overcome despite a strong second-quarter response.

The visitors established control in the opening period, building a 17-point lead by the first break. London responded with an improved second quarter, cutting the deficit to six points at 29-35, but Caledonia closed the half with seven unanswered points to restore a 49-32 advantage.

Chloe Wilson led the Lions with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals, going nine-of-11 from the free-throw line. Julia Tuchscherer recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, adding five blocks. Amaris Baker contributed 13 points, including two three-pointers.

London found greater rhythm in the second quarter through improved ball pressure and scoring inside. Tuchscherer provided a presence in the paint, while Baker connected from beyond the arc to help spark the comeback. Wilson added a layup and free throws before a steal by Annika Shah led to a Baker basket, bringing the Lions within six.

However, Caledonia responded to halt the hosts’ momentum, stretching the lead back to double digits before half-time. The visitors maintained their advantage through the third quarter, despite further resistance from London, with Tuchscherer contributing on both ends of the floor and Dami Adeyinkya adding points from the free-throw line.

The Lions entered the final period trailing 63-48, but Caledonia opened the fourth quarter with a decisive run to extend the margin to 23 points. London continued to compete late on, though the visitors maintained control to secure the 76-58 result.

Turnovers and shooting efficiency proved costly for the Lions. Caledonia also capitalised on second-chance opportunities, collecting 16 offensive rebounds compared with London’s eight.

Despite the defeat, the Lions showed their ability to fight back from an early deficit, with Tuchscherer’s double-double and five blocks highlighting their efforts at both ends of the floor.

London Lions Women return to NCC Hackney for their next fixture, taking on Nottingham in the SLBW Championship as they look to respond on home court.
