Thank You: Shequila Joseph, Chantel Charles, Azania Stewart & Paige Robinson

The London Lions can confirm the departures of Shequila Joseph and Chantel Charles and the retirements of Azania Stewart and Paige Robinson.

The Lions achieved several major feats during the past season, and we would like to thank them for their contributions to a historic year and wish them all well for the future.

Azania Stewart

British Basketball legend Azania Stewart announced her retirement at the start of the season and then proceeded to help lead the Lions to garner massive success over the past six months throughout her farewell tour. Number 88 capped off her illustrious career by averaging 6.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Shequila Joseph

Great Britain international Shequila Joseph joined the Lions during the 2021-22 season, following time with top-level Hungarian outfit Ujbuda and premier German Bundesliga team Rutronik Stars Keltern, where she first competed in the FIBA EuroCup.

The forward significantly contributed to the Lions’ milestone-setting domestic season, averaging 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals whilst shooting 88.5% from the free-throw line.

Chantel Charles

Throughout the 2022-23 season, the highly respected 3&D forward Chantel Charles helped to uphold the team’s defensive mindset averaging 1.1 steals whilst shooting 40.5% from 3-point range. The East London native complemented that with 5.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game during the domestic season.

Paige Robinson

Proud South Londoner Paige Robinson called time on her playing career to take up an executive Marketing role at the league office. The forward/center had a highly successful career wearing the Lions colours, picking up ten domestic titles, including the Playoff trophy at London's O2 Arena, when London again toppled the Leicester Riders.
