London, Friday 20 February - The London Lions have confirmed that Assistant Coach Vytautas Pliauga will step into the role of Interim Head Coach while Tautvydas Sabonis is away from the team for personal reasons.
Pliauga, 41, joined the Lions ahead of the 2025–26 season under Sabonis, bringing significant experience from Lithuania. During the 2024-25 campaign, he served as an assistant coach with Žalgiris Kaunas’ first team, competing at the highest levels domestically and in European competition. Prior to that, he led Žalgiris II for three seasons, overseeing the development of young talent within the club’s renowned pathway.
Pliauga will take charge immediately, beginning with tonight’s home fixture against the Leicester Riders, before leading the team on the road this Sunday, 22 February, against the Manchester Giants.
