London, Monday 22 June 2026 - London Lions have bolstered their backcourt for the 2026-27 season with the signing of American point guard Devante Jones, one of the most productive guards in last season’s BKT EuroCup.

Jones, 28, arrives in the capital off the back of a standout campaign with Dolomiti Energia Trento, where he finished third in EuroCup scoring at 18.6 points per game while also contributing 4.5 assists and shooting an outstanding 60.6 per cent from two-point range across 18 games, while being named All-EuroCup first team. He added 10.5 points and 3.5 assists a night in the Italian Serie A.

Lions supporters will already be familiar with what he brings. Jones twice faced London in the EuroCup last season and saved some of his best basketball for those meetings, posting 22 points in one game and a season-high 33 in the other.

A floor general with genuine pedigree, Jones built his reputation across the top European leagues. Before his move to Italy he spent time in Slovenia with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, winning the Slovenian League Championship in 2025, and earned his stripes in France’s top flight, twice being named to the league’s All-Star Game. The New Orleans native came through the college ranks in the United States, finishing his time at the University of Michigan after earning Player of the Year honours in his conference with Coastal Carolina.

London Lions General Manager Martynas Purlys said: “Devante Jones is officially a London Lion. Smart, physical and with the right winning mentality, he is the kind of player we wanted in this squad. Point guard is a key position for us and we’re confident Devante is the right man to own it.”

Jones becomes the seventh confirmed signing of the offseason, joining returnees Deane Williams, Joel Scott and Ethan Price, and fellow new arrivals Emilis Zibuda, Thomas Kennedy and Maxwell Lewis, as London assemble a squad built to defend their quadruple while progressing in the Eurocup.
