London, Monday 6 July - London Lions have moved to strengthen their backcourt for the 2026-27 season with the signing of guard Joshua O’Garro, who arrives fresh off his first senior Great Britain call-up.
O’Garro, 24, joins London having just made his GB debut in the most recent World Cup qualifying window, capping a rapid rise for a player who took British citizenship earlier this year. Born in George Town, Cayman Islands, he first made his mark in the game with the Cayman Islands, winning a National League title and representing the islands at youth international level before his move stateside. Now, with British citizenship secured, he steps onto the senior GB stage and turns professional with the Lions at the same time.
He comes to the capital off the back of a standout final college season at California State University Northridge, where he was a genuine two-way force. Across 33 games O’Garro averaged 14.6 points and 9.0 rebounds, a remarkable rebounding return for a guard, while adding 2.8 assists and shooting 47.6 per cent from the floor. He saved some of his biggest performances for the closing stretch, posting 28 points against CS Fullerton and a run of 20-plus point games as CSUN pushed through their conference schedule.
At 6'6" with the size to guard multiple positions and the nose for the glass of a much bigger man, O’Garro fits the profile of the versatile, athletic wing the Lions have looked to build around. His arrival adds another international talent to the roster as the club prepares to compete on both the domestic and European fronts.
General Manager Martynas Purlys said: "We're pleased to welcome Joshua to London Lions. He's a talented young British guard who has proven himself in top-level NCAA competition and as a GB national team member he brings real quality to our roster. We look forward to seeing him develop with us."
O’Garro’s signing is the latest piece of London’s squad building ahead of the 2026-27 season.
