London, Tuesday 4 August 2026 – The London Lions are delighted to announce the signing of Veronica Iweanya ahead of the upcoming season.
The 5’11 centre joins the Lions after five successful seasons with the Bristol Flyers in WNBL Division 1, where she established herself as one of the league’s leading rebounders. During the 2025/26 campaign, Iweanya averaged 9.5 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, earning selection to the WNBL Division 1 All Imports Team.
Originally from Nigeria, Iweanya brings valuable experience, physicality, and a strong presence in the paint to the Lions’ frontcourt. Her ability to dominate the boards and provide a defensive anchor will add another important dimension to the team’s roster.
Iweanya recently represented the London Lions at the Hoopsfix Pro-Am Summer League, playing a key role in the team’s unbeaten run to the finals and showcasing her ability to make an impact within the Lions’ system.
“I’m really excited to have Veronica joining us this season. The way she approaches the game and embraces her role will be instrumental to our success. She’s a dominant presence on the boards, and I truly believe she’s ready to take the next step and make an impact in the SLBW,” said Lions General Manager Ruchae Walton.
The Lions are excited to welcome Veronica to the team as they continue building towards the upcoming season.
