London, Tuesday 30 June 2026 - London Lions are delighted to confirm that guard Tarik Phillip has signed a two-year contract extension, committing one of the club’s most experienced and familiar faces to the capital through the 2027-28 season.
Phillip, 32, is coming off another strong campaign in a Lions jersey, having been a key part of the side that swept the SLB Playoff Title, SLB Championship, SLB Cup and SLB Trophy in 2025-26. The dual British and American guard featured in 32 league games, contributing 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists a night while shooting better than 53 per cent inside the arc and 80 per cent from the free-throw line.He saved some of his sharpest basketball for the European stage. Across 18 EuroCup games, Phillip averaged 12.2 points and 4.0 assists while shooting 57.3 per cent from two and 37 per cent from three, providing experienced, steady hands in the backcourt against some of the continent’s strongest sides.
His connection to the club runs deep. Phillip first joined London in 2022 and was part of the team that made history the following year, reaching the EuroCup Semifinals in 2023-24 as the first British side to do so. With the Lions confirmed for their fourth EuroCup season ahead, his continental experience and leadership will once again be central to the club’s ambitions.
A full Great Britain international, Phillip represented his country at FIBA EuroBasket in 2025 and has been a regular in the national team setup, adding another layer of pedigree to a player who has consistently delivered on the biggest stages.
General Manager Martynas Purlys said: “Tarik has been an important part of our squad and we look forward to continuing to work with him. He knows the club, he knows what we are building. The fans love him and that means a great deal to us. Tarik is someone who genuinely cares about London Lions and we are glad to have him on board for the next two years.”
The extension is a statement of continuity for London, keeping a proven leader and big-game performer in the building as the club builds towards another campaign on multiple fronts.
