Cassie Breen hit five three pointers on her way to a 21-point game as Lions beat Manchester Mystics 96-48 at Barking Abbey, on Sunday.

Breen needed just 19 minutes to lead all scorers as London led from tip to buzzer to maintain their perfect record in WBBL competitions this season.

Captain Shanice Beckford-Norton added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists as Lions’ bench outscored both their own starters and the entire Mystics’ line-up.

Holly Winterburn had 11 points and five assists for the hosts while Jo Leedham added ten points, seven boards and four assists, and Kennedy Leonard added eight assists to her nine points as Lions had 30 assists on their 39 field goals.

Veterans Georgie Jones and Dominique Allen were the only two Manchester players in double figures with 12 points apiece.

Leedham hit five points and Winterburn drained a triple as Lions opened on an 8-3 tear, before Chantelle Charles and Winterburn’s second trey saw the home side open a ten-point lead.

A triple from Leedham and a Beckford-Norton lay-up saw Lions take a 28-14 lead into the first break and although Allen opened the second period scoring Breen hit a triple to make it a 16-point game 90 seconds into the frame.

Beckford-Norton’s jump shot off a Leonard assist sparked a 14-0 run as Breen and Leonard scored from downtown to give Lions a massive 45-16 lead midway through the second quarter. And with Azania Stewart and Beckford-Norton both converting three-point plays, the hosts went into the locker room with a 55-23 lead.

Breen was on fire early in the second half, hitting back-to-back triples followed by a lay-up off Leonard’s assist as London scored the first eight points, and with Charles and Winterburn both hit triples Lions went into the final break with an unassailable 75-35 advantage.

Allen and Beckford-Norton exchanged baskets to open the final stanza, and with Sheqilla Joseph and Steph Umeh converted lay-ups, Lions steadily added to their lead.

Breen drained her fifth triple before, fittingly, she converting  Leah McDement’s pass to wrap up the victory.
