Mikesell played college basketball at the University of Dayton, where he made 102 appearances and averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds in his senior year. He helped the Flyers achieve a 29-2 record and a No. 3 national ranking in the 2019–20 NCAA season. Since turning professional in 2020, Mikesell has played in Germany’s ProA league with Tigers Tübingen, France’s Pro A league with Élan Chalon and ESSM Le Portel, and most recently in the German BBL with MLP Academics Heidelberg, where he averaged 15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in the 2024/25 season.
